                       A little about the Coleman prints above.
 
Gerald "Jerry" Coleman has had a career that most men dream about. Major league baseball player, USMC aviator, sports broadcaster and in 1980 manager of the San Diego Padres. Jerry started and ended his baseball career with the New York Yankees from 1949 thou 1957. He was on the 1950 All-Star team, a 4 time World Series Champion and the 1950 World Series Most Valuable player. As a USMC aviator Jerry flew in two wars. In WWII while flying the SBD Jerry flew 57 Combat missions and in the Korean War, he flew another 63 while flying the Corsair. Lt. Colonel Coleman flew a total of 120 Combat missions and was awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses, 13 Air Medals and 3 Navy Citations. In 1967 working for WPIX television Jerry called ex-teammate Mickey Mantle's 500th career home run. "Here's the payoff pitch..This is it! There it goes! It's out of here".

                                 Tuskegee Contrails

On March 24, 1945, 31 B-17s of the 463rd Bombardment Group flew a mission from their base in Italy, to the Daimler-Benz Tank Works in Berlin and back (1,800 miles). The 332nd FG was assigned the escort mission for most of the way, however when the relief FG failed to show, the 332nd continued to escort the B-17s all the way to the target. While over the target, they were wrer attacked by Me262 jets. In was unknown how to deal with the jets at 100 MPH faster then the 332nds P-51s, but within just a few minutes, Lt. Roscoe Brown and Flt. Officer Charles Brantley each shot down a jet. The rest of the jets scattered. For their actions the 463rd DG and the 332nd FG were awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation.

                                           Wulf Hunt

It was March 31, 1945 when the 332nd Fighter Group flew from their base at Ramitelli, Italy to just south of Munich, Germany. Their mission was to attack supply trains and any targets of opportunity. 1st Lt. Robert Williams, of the 100 FS was part of the mission. The 332nd found there targets in the form of Focke Wulf 190s and Me 109s. P-51s, Fw190s and Me109s covered the skies. During the dog fight, the 332nd downed 13 enemy fighters, Lt Williams was responsible for 2 of these, both Fw190s. Lt. William was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions. Three of his fellow pilots were lost in the battle. Lt. Williams went on to complete 50 combat missions before leaving the USAAF as a Captain.

                                        Burt Rutan

Elbert Leander "Bert" Rutan is an American Aerospace engineer noted for his originality in designing light, strong, unusual-looking energy efficient aircraft. He is famous for his design of the record breaking Voyager, which was the first plane to fly around the world without stopping for refueling and the sub-orbital space plane, SpaceShipOne, which won the Ansari X-Prize in 2004 for becoming the first privately funded spacecraft to enter the realm of space twice within a two week period. Bert has five aircraft on display in the national Air & Space Museum.
